Adm. Alvin Holsey, the US Navy commander who supervised military strikes in the Caribbean Sea, is leaving his post, according to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Holsey's departure comes less than a year after he took over as commander of US Southern Command. Hegseth announced the news on social media, stating:
On behalf of the Department of War, we extend our deepest gratitude to Admiral Alvin Holsey for his more than 37 years of distinguished service to our nation as he plans to retire at year’s end.
The reasons for Holsey's departure were not specified by Hegseth. However, The New York Times reported that Holsey had voiced concerns about the US military actions.
