Conor Regan, 16, has quickly achieved his first senior win after moving up from the U16 ranks. A national title winner on the track this year, Regan has made a strong start to his junior category career.
Regan's club, Kilcullen Cycling Club Murphy Geospacial, had double reason to celebrate as teammate Doireann Killeen won the senior women's race by a significant margin.
At the opening round of the Leinster League of Cyclocross, hosted by Lakeside Wheelers at Belvedere House and Gardens, Regan took the lead early on. Sean Lundy of UCD Cycling Club posed a challenge, making it a competitive race.
Regan put in a very strong performance, despite being new to the category and riding against seniors for the first time.
Author's summary: Conor Regan wins first senior race.
