A new twist has been added to the secretive world of managerial searches, with University of Tennessee baseball coach Tony Vitello being considered for the San Francisco Giants' managerial job.
Although not familiar with college baseball, Vitello is known for his excellent commentary on draft nights for MLB Network.
Unlike the NFL and NBA, major league baseball has not typically hired coaches from the college ranks, with occasional exceptions for adding coaches, but not managers.
The best hires, or at least the most interesting, seem to be the most unexpected.
