Despite the rise of Chinese EVs, Americans remain skeptical about opting for cheaper Chinese electric vehicles.

China has established itself as a leader in the electric vehicle industry, with over 100 brands offering feature-rich cars at lower price points than their American or European counterparts.

Even when the Chinese car is $10,000 cheaper than the U.S. one, a majority of respondents prefer their vehicle was made in the U.S.A.

However, the preference for U.S.-made cars narrows as the savings increase, with two-thirds of Americans willing to pay $500 more for a domestic vehicle.

A recent poll by the University of Chicago and AP-NORC reveals that while cost is a factor, it is not the only consideration for American consumers.
