Erykah Badu Pays Tribute to D'Angelo
Erykah Badu paid tribute to her fellow Soulquarian, D'Angelo, during a recent performance at Royal Albert Hall in London.
"When you cease to exist on this planet, the mere thought of you keeps you alive. We will always see you,"
she said, before calling out "D'Angelo!" and performing a version of "On & On" that blended into D'Angelo's "Jonz In My Bonz" and also singing "Shit, Damn, Motherfucker" from his 1995 album Brown Sugar.
In a recent interview on Popcast, Badu spoke about encountering D'Angelo's music for the first time and building a kinship.
