Denji falls deeply in love with Makima in the film. However, Makima's strength and excess blood have become unmanageable, taking power out of the equation.
She assigns Denji a new partner, the Shark Fiend named Beam, a massive fan of Chainsaw who considers it an honor to team up with him. Denji and Makima share a romantic date, spending the day at the movie theater and discussing films between screenings.
Denji feels that Makima is the one who makes him realize he has a heart and that it belongs to her.
Denji has a chance encounter with another beautiful girl, Reze, who works at a coffee cafe, on a rainy afternoon, while deep in thought about his feelings for Makima.
