Independent MP Craig Garland Loses Licence

Tasmanian independent MP Craig Garland has been disqualified from driving for six months and fined $820 after pleading guilty to drug driving.

Garland appeared in the Burnie Magistrates Court, where he received four demerit points for driving with cannabis in his system.

He recognises he should not have been driving

Garland had been prescribed medical cannabis in June to manage chronic pain, but accepted responsibility for his actions. He will only be allowed to drive to and from parliament.
