Obituary: Joan Finnerty of Harrison Passes Away at 91
Joan Finnerty, a former lifelong resident of Harrison, died on October 26, 2025, at the age of 91, surrounded by her loving family in Jacksonville, Florida.
She was born in Jersey City and raised in Kearny, before moving to Harrison at the age of 18, where she resided for 71 years. In January 2024, she relocated to Florida to be with her family.
Joan was a devoted volunteer and active member of Holy Cross Church in Harrison, where she coordinated several fundraisers. Her funeral will be held at the Mulligan Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass at Holy Cross Church.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at the funeral home, allowing friends and relatives to pay their respects.
Despite her move to Florida, Harrison remained her favorite place and the town she considered home.
She was a tireless volunteer in many organizations and a dedicated member of her community.
