First Poppy Presented to Serving Sergeant
The Prince Albert Legion launched their annual poppy campaign, presenting the first poppy to serving Sergeant Linwood Williams.
Williams, currently serving with the North Saskatchewan Regiment, had the first poppy pinned on him by Legion member and veteran Marie Mathers.
- Served 10 years with the 2nd Battalion in Shiloh, Man.
- Spent two years at the Training Centre as an instructor.
- Served overseas in Latvia and Ukraine.
“Honestly, it’s just such an honour,” he said. “I was shocked to be even thought of for something like this, so this is amazing. It means a lot.”
Williams was born and raised in the Prince Albert area and joined the army in 2012.
