Ralph Priso scored a late goal to tie the game, marking his first goal of the season and his third career MLS goal. This achievement made him the 21st player to score for the Whitecaps in MLS play this season, setting a new league record.
FC Dallas had taken the lead with a goal from Petar Musa in the 25th minute, but Priso's equalizer sent the game to a shootout, which the Whitecaps won.
The Whitecaps will look to reach the MLS conference final for the first time in club history.
The match against FC Dallas was attended by 11,004 fans at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
