17 Proposed Amendments on the Ballot
Seventeen Constitutional Amendments are on the November ballot. Here's an overview of each proposition, including explanations and arguments for and against, as provided by The League of Women Voters.
PROPOSITION 1
Proposition 1 is a constitutional amendment that provides for the creation of the permanent technical institution infrastructure fund and the available workforce education fund. This fund will support the capital needs of educational programs offered by the Texas State Technical College System.
The Texas State Technical College (TSTC) System was established in 1965 to provide technical vocational education, with 11 colleges across the state offering two-year degrees and certificates in technical and vocational areas. In 2023-24, 11,436 students attended Texas State Technical Colleges.
If this proposed amendment were passed, it would use $52 million to create a permanent fund to support the TSTC.
