Election Roundup: Lumberton City Council
Lumberton City Council members Melissa Robinson, John Carroll, John Cantey, and Owen Thomas were reelected on Tuesday.
Each member won by a wide margin, with Cantey receiving 202 votes in Precinct 5, more than 88% of the total.
- John Cantey, the senior member of the council, has served since 2005 and won a sixth term.
- Write-in candidates Keith Copeland and Darryl Genus combined for 27 votes.
“First and foremost, I’d like to thank God, all of our church families, civic groups and especially the residents of Precinct 5 for entrusting me to a sixth term as their representative,”
Cantey said, noting the decisive victory as an indicator of the residents' choice.
