The November 2025 supermoon will appear up to 30 percent brighter than the dimmest full moon, being the closest the full moon has been to Earth in over 6 years.
In astronomy, this phenomenon is known as a supermoon, and this one is the biggest in years. To put its size into perspective, if you hold a U.S. nickel out against the sky, that's the size of the smallest full moon, while a supermoon is about the size of a U.S. quarter.
The moon's orbit is slightly oval shaped, known as an elliptical orbit, with the farthest point, called its apogee, being about a quarter of a million miles away, and the closest point, called the perigee, with the Moon between about 220,000 and 230,000 miles away.
Although the supermoon won't be wearing a cape, it'll certainly be super-sized.
Author's summary: Supermoon is the brightest since 2019.
