Sombre Camilla Pays Tribute at Remembrance Day Ceremony
The Queen honoured fallen soldiers in a moving ceremony today at Westminster Abbey's Field of Remembrance. Each year, 250 plots on the lawn of St Margaret's Church are dedicated to those who lost their lives in military service.
The event was organised by the Poppy Factory, which Her Majesty, aged 78, supports as a patron. King Charles' wife wore a blue Fiona Clare dress paired with a red beret, symbolising the uniform of The Royal Lancers, where she serves as Colonel-in-Chief.
The ceremony held a personal significance for Camilla, as her late father, Major Bruce Shand MC and Bar, served in the 12th Lancers during World War Two and was awarded the Military Cross for his bravery.
In keeping with tradition, she laid a wooden remembrance cross ahead of Armistice Day on 11 November. Visitors at the site can purchase crosses of various shapes, representing different faiths.
