Cameron Norrie Advances to Metz Semifinals

Cameron Norrie secured his place in the semifinals of the Moselle Open after a challenging match against French player Kyrian Jacquet on Thursday. Norrie, the last remaining seed at the ATP 250 event, won the final 11 points of the intense two-hour and 25-minute encounter.

“He surprised me a lot,” Norrie said about Jacquet, the third French opponent he has defeated this week. “He was mixing it up really well. A lot of slicing, then really aggressive at moments. His serve is really, really good. The French have so many good players, so many different kinds of players. I really liked the way he competed and he could have easily won the match in the second set as well, but I managed to stay tough.”

Jacquet hit 48 winners, with half coming from his forehand, compared to Norrie's 28 winners. Despite this, the 30-year-old British player found his best form when it mattered most to claim victory and move into the last four. Norrie's next opponent will be either Lorenzo Sonego or Daniel Altmaier.

Norrie is pursuing his sixth ATP Tour-level title and his first since winning in Rio de Janeiro in 2023, where he defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the final.
