First Alert Weather: Cool and Mainly Dry Today, Tracking First Chance for Snow Next Week

We’re back to Green on the Threat Tracker as winds have eased and a few passing lake rain showers move through this morning. Rain chances should taper off by the afternoon, leading to partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid-40s.

Winds remain light, with the strongest gusts around 20 MPH. Tomorrow, the breeze increases ahead of another front, bringing gusts up to 30 MPH and some afternoon or evening rain.

Saturday stays cool and cloudy with calmer air. By Sunday, a low-pressure system approaches, delivering more rain and bringing snow to areas across the lake. As the system moves out Sunday night, colder air wraps in, giving us our first chance for snow—especially in higher elevations.

“Cold Canadian air pushes south Monday, likely producing some lake flakes as winds shift from the north.”

By Tuesday, there’s a better chance for lake-effect snow off Lake Ontario, with winds turning northwest. Significant accumulation isn’t expected yet, but forecasts will become clearer in the coming days. Temperatures Monday and Tuesday will stay below 40 degrees.

A quick-moving clipper system is expected Wednesday, bringing additional rain and breezy conditions.

Author’s Summary
