After Bam Adebayo left Wednesday night’s game early against the Denver Nuggets, an MRI on Thursday confirmed he suffered a sprain in his left big toe. As a result, Adebayo will miss Friday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets at Kaseya Center and is listed as day-to-day.
The Heat’s challenge at center was apparent even before Adebayo exited the game in the first quarter. With limited options at the position, his injury leaves the team with very few viable centers. The Heat responded by recalling former Florida Atlantic University center Vlad Goldin from the G League.
The team now faces the question of how well it can compete without Adebayo.
“The math problem with the roster was evident to almost all even before Bam hobbled off,” said veteran guard Norman Powell. “We started the season with only Adebayo and Kel’el Ware as viable options at center.”
Adebayo played just 8 minutes and 12 seconds in the 122-112 loss to Denver before leaving due to the injury.
Bam Adebayo’s toe sprain sidelines him temporarily, highlighting Miami Heat’s thin center depth and raising questions about their adaptability in upcoming games.
