A new study presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Annual Meeting in Vienna reveals that light exercise can help prevent heart risks in people with type 2 diabetes.
Researchers from the Steno Diabetes Center Odense and Odense University Hospital in Denmark analyzed data from over 11,000 adults with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes and no prior history of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Participants self-reported their physical activity levels, which were categorized as sedentary, light, or moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA).

The study found that physical activity, even at light levels, can lower the risk of serious heart problems and early death in people with type 2 diabetes.
Author's summary: Regular physical activity reduces heart risks in type 2 diabetes patients.
