Residents Urged to Evacuate Remington Area Amid 3-Alarm Fire

City officials have urged residents in the Remington area of Baltimore to evacuate as firefighters battle a three-alarm blaze at a commercial building.

The fire erupted at the intersection of West 23rd Street and Hampden Avenue. John Marsh, spokesperson for the Baltimore City Fire Department, confirmed there have been no injuries reported so far.

Resident Accounts

Mollie Bailey, living on West 23rd Street, noticed smoke while working on her laptop around 1:30 p.m.

“I thought, ‘oh gosh, did I leave the oven on?’”

She then looked out the window and saw smoke spreading across her neighborhood. Friends from Hampden also called her, saying they could see the smoke from nearby.

Evacuation and Assistance

Around 2:30 p.m., an emergency alert was issued, instructing residents in the 400 block of West 23rd Street to evacuate immediately.

“I threw on clothes, grabbed my purse and left,”

Bailey helped neighbors and people at a nearby dog daycare to evacuate safely.
