Paramore's lead vocalist Hayley Williams has unveiled the 20th and final single from her third solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. The song, titled "Showbiz," features cryptic lyrics reflecting tensions experienced under the spotlight.
On November 7th, Williams officially released "Showbiz," completing the album's unique release strategy. Prior to this, 17 tracks were independently released on a free website as singles, leading to a gradual unveiling of the full project.
“May never happen again / Stings like sweat on broken skin / And it’s never enough / Tastes like the whole ocean / Exit stage left / What might be the end / Showbiz, showbiz.”
Williams leaves the exact meaning of what might be “ending” in the song ambiguous, adding to the track’s enigmatic nature.
Despite speculation that this album hints at Paramore’s breakup, Williams has reassured fans the band is "on a break." In a previous single, "Good Ol’ Days," she refers to herself as “Miss Paramore,” implying ongoing ties and future possibilities for the band, which she formed at age 15.
She has recently expressed feeling unfairly "blamed for all the shit" that caused the band's hiatuses. The new album’s lyrics also allude to her recent split with Paramore's guitarist.
Hayley Williams' final single "Showbiz" closes out her album with enigmatic lyrics, reflecting personal and professional tensions while affirming Paramore's current hiatus rather than a breakup.
