Dartmouth football looks to get back on track against Princeton this Saturday

Dartmouth Football Aims to Rebound Against Princeton

After a challenging road defeat to undefeated Harvard, Dartmouth's Big Green football team is eager to recover in their upcoming home game against the Princeton Tigers this Saturday.

Recap of the Harvard Game

Dartmouth fell 31-10 to Harvard's dynamic offense and strong defense last week, leaving Harvard undefeated. Despite the loss, Dartmouth showed resilience, especially during a competitive third quarter that highlighted their potential.

“We came out of halftime and really battled and put ourselves right back in the game,” said head coach Sammy McCorkle. “But they just out-executed us and we didn’t make enough plays when we did get that momentum going … We talked about it at halftime. Just go out there and take one play at a time, and let’s make sure we just do what we do. I think we did that in the third quarter.”

Player Insights

Chris Corbo ’26, an All-Ivy First Team tight end in 2024, shared an optimistic view on the offense's performance against Harvard.

“We showed that when we play at our best we can execute against anyone,” Corbo said. “We came out of halftime with a purpose.”

Defensive end Joshua Johnson ’27 applauded the defense’s increased pressure on Harvard’s quarterback, a strategy the team hopes to maintain against Princeton.

“With that game, specifically the pressure, we continued to put on the quarterback [which] was a huge thing,” Johnson said.

Looking Ahead

Dartmouth aims to harness the positive aspects of their recent performance and build momentum as they prepare to face Princeton in what promises to be a determined matchup at home.

Summary: Dartmouth football seeks to leverage a strong third-quarter showing and increased defensive pressure to bounce back against Princeton after a tough loss to Harvard.
