A McDonald's branch located along a busy Cambridge road has submitted a new application to extend its opening hours, despite previous refusals.
Savills stated in a cover letter that the extension “is not considered to result in any unacceptable impact” on nearby residents. The letter noted that other businesses in the area have varying trading hours, referencing Papa Johns, which remains open until 3am every day.
“This application simply seeks to extend the trading hours by an additional hour from that which is currently approved. We therefore anticipate that the proposal is entirely acceptable in terms of the extra hour of operation in the early morning trading period as no complaints have been received.”
Savills also highlighted that the majority of McDonald's customers visit during the early morning, and that there are economic benefits to opening for an additional hour.
McDonald's on Cambridge Road is seeking to open an hour earlier each morning, citing minimal impact and economic benefits, despite previous rejections.
