The 2025 General Election ballot features a countywide referendum, a statewide race, and municipal seats up for election in three of Oconee's four municipalities.
A referendum on the continuation of a 1% Educational Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST) is on the ballot. Currently, the cumulative sales tax in Oconee is 8%. If approved, the sales tax will remain at 8%; if denied, it will decrease to 7% when the current ESPLOST expires at the end of 2026.
Two members of the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) are up for election. The PSC serves as a regulatory function for telecommunications, electric, and natural gas services.
