Cody Rhodes, who portrays Guile in the upcoming Street Fighter film, described the production as an exceptionally distinctive and intense experience. He takes on the role of a U.S. Air Force pilot and emphasized the novelty of performing wire work for Guile’s iconic moves, particularly the “flash kick.” He stated:
“I’d never been on wires... If it’s in that movie, I wanted to get a shot at the flash kick. And I’d watched [Jean-Claude] Van Damme do it from the old school Street Fighter.”
Rhodes noted the high demands on the cast, with the team urging everyone to raise their standards given the achievements made within only a few weeks of production. This created a motivating, high-pressure environment:
“They’re asking us, ‘Hey, look at what we’ve made in three weeks. Step up, guys.’ I felt like I was ready to run through a brick wall.”
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the movie takes place in 1993. The narrative follows Ryu and Ken, who are compelled to reunite and compete in the World Warrior Tournament. Behind the tournament, a greater conspiracy challenges the characters to confront both their opponents and internal struggles.
