PA systems, screens hacked with pro-Hamas messages at Kelowna, Victoria airports

Pro-Hamas Messages Disrupt Airport Operations

On Tuesday, October 14, the Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and Victoria International Airport (YYJ) experienced a cyber security incident.

Public address systems and screens were hacked, displaying pro-Hamas messages, including "Free Palestine" and curses directed at the U.S.

The incident, which occurred between 5 p.m., caused flight delays at both airports.

The YLW team has successfully removed the unauthorized messaging and restored our flight information display screens and are continuing to work on restoring the PA system.

The City of Kelowna stated that the incident was limited to a cloud-based third-party software provider.
