Unions Sue to Stop AI Surveillance Powering Trump’s Deportation Scheme
The immigration system is being used against individuals with views disliked by Trump, including pro-Palestine students and Charlie Kirk commenters.
Three major labor unions have sued the federal government to stop a social media surveillance program that revokes visas and green cards of immigrants with "hostile attitudes" towards the government.
The First Amendment applies to everyone who lives in the U.S.
The lawsuit, filed by three civil liberties groups, claims the AI-powered program has suppressed free speech among union members, including graduate students targeted for pro-Palestine views.
According to Lisa Femia, a lawyer with the Electronic Frontier Foundation, this is the first lawsuit to challenge the surveillance program itself.
