Agreement Reached for Northern Beaches Hospital Transition
An in-principle agreement has been reached for the Northern Beaches Hospital to transition to public ownership, with a $190 million payment to Healthscope's receivers.
This milestone marks the final phase in the Minns Labor Government's plan to rectify one of NSW's worst privatisation experiments, minimizing the impact on taxpayers.
The hospital will move to the direct control of the Northern Sydney Local Health District by mid-2026, following months of negotiations between the NSW Government, Healthscope, and its receivers.
The Minns Labor Government will now finalize the legal and commercial arrangements, including workforce transition, and consult with clinicians to determine future clinical services and an operating model.
The transition will see the hospital move to public ownership, fulfilling the Government's promise to rectify the privatisation experiment.
