Toronto powers up 500 EV chargers in push for electric future

Toronto Reaches 500 Public EV Chargers Milestone

The Toronto Parking Authority (TPA) and Toronto Hydro have energized the 500th public electric vehicle (EV) charging station, marking a key achievement in the city's drive toward electric mobility. This charger is located at Green P Carpark 504 on Willingdon Blvd., further expanding access throughout Toronto.

Partnership Driving EV Infrastructure Expansion

Since 2020, Toronto Hydro and TPA have collaborated to grow the city's EV charging network. Initially launched by Toronto Hydro, the charger network's ownership was transferred to TPA in 2023 to accelerate expansion efforts.

“Reaching 500 energized EV charging stations is a testament to what strong partnerships can achieve,” said Jana Mosley, President & CEO of Toronto Hydro.

Focus on Accessibility and EV Adoption

Scott Collier, President of TPA, emphasized that expanding the network is vital to enhancing accessibility for electric vehicle users and encouraging broader adoption.

“Our mission is clear: to create a seamless mobility experience that delivers on Choice, Ease, and Speed for our customers,” Collier stated.

These efforts reflect Toronto's commitment to supporting sustainable transportation and meeting growing EV demand.
