First Snowfall Expected in Southern Ontario This Sunday

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement forecasting the first snowfall of the season for Hamilton, Burlington, Brantford, and nearby areas. Snowfall is predicted to begin Sunday morning and continue through the evening, with accumulations of two to ten centimetres.

Winter Weather Outlook

This snow event will bring the initial wave of winter weather to much of southern Ontario, according to meteorologist Trudy Kidd from Environment Canada. The low-pressure system responsible may cause significant snowfall in parts of the region.

"A low pressure system could bring significant snowfall to parts of southern Ontario on Sunday," said Environment Canada.

However, the forecast comes with uncertainty regarding the storm’s intensity and precise snowfall locations, and accumulation amounts may change.

Safety Advisories and Travel Recommendations

Environment Canada advises motorists to anticipate challenging winter driving and adjust their travel plans accordingly. Poor weather conditions might lead to transportation delays.

"Motorists should expect difficult winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays," the agency warned.

Residents are also reminded to install winter tires before Sunday to enhance safety on the roads.
