Josh Pons Named 2024 Dr. Tony Ryan Book Award Winner

Racing journalist and horseman Josh Pons has been honored with the 2024 Dr. Tony Ryan Book Award, presented by Castleton Lyons, recognizing outstanding thoroughbred racing literature published this year.

Pons received the $10,000 prize during a November 6 reception at the Lexington, Kentucky farm.

About the Winning Book

The award-winning work, Letters from Country Life: Adolphe Pons, Man o' War, and the Founding of Maryland's Oldest Thoroughbred Farm, offers a look at the Golden Age of racing through a unique collection of letters sent to his grandfather, Adolphe Pons.

Adolphe Pons, in the early 20th century, served as private secretary to Racing Hall of Fame breeder August Belmont, contributing significantly to the breeding and sale of the legendary Man o’ War.
