Miss Piggy is Getting a Disney Movie, Produced by Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone
From her beginnings as a chorus pig to becoming a cultural symbol, Miss Piggy is ready to shine in her own Disney feature. Golden Globe winner Jennifer Lawrence has announced that she will co-produce the upcoming Miss Piggy film for Disney with fellow Academy Award recipient Emma Stone.

Lawrence revealed the news during a conversation on the Las Culturistas podcast, where she shared her enthusiasm for the project.
“I don’t know if I can announce this, but I’m just gonna. Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie,”
Lawrence also confirmed that Cole Escola, known for the Broadway hit Oh, Mary!, is writing the screenplay.
Possible On-Screen Appearances
When asked if she and Stone might appear in the movie, Lawrence answered with a playful hint.
“I think so,” she said, adding that “it’s messed up we haven’t been in a movie together already.”
Origins of the Idea
Speaking later on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Lawrence recounted that the idea was born during the pandemic lockdown, at a time when discussions around “cancel culture” were prominent.
“She said, ‘Miss Piggy is a feminist icon. It would be so funny if Miss Piggy got canceled,’” Lawrence recalled.
Lawrence clarified that this conversation inspired the concept but does not necessarily reflect the film’s plot. She noted that this discussion “got the wheels turning.”
Miss Piggy’s Legacy
According to Deadline, Miss Piggy first appeared as a background performer on The Muppet Show in the mid-1970s and soon rose to fame as one of its main stars by the early 1980s. The beloved puppet diva is also widely recognized for her iconic, complicated relationship with Kermit the Frog.
